NGK Selected as Constituent Company for a Global Index of Socially Responsible Investment for the First Time

NGK INSULATORS, LTD. (“NGK”) hereby announces that it has recently been selected for the first time as a constituent company for fiscal 2016 in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index (“DJSI Asia Pacific”), which is one of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (“DJSI”), a global socially responsible investment (“SRI”) index.

DJSI is a leading SRI index that has been offered since 1999 by S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC of the U.S. and the SRI-related survey company RobecoSAM AG of Switzerland. The DJSI index analyzes companies as regards economic, environmental, and social factors. Companies that possess excellent sustainability are then selected as constituent companies for the index. Inclusion in DJSI has become one of the most important investment criteria for investors around the world who place importance on a company's corporate social responsibility (“CSR”), including its environmental, societal and corporate governance elements (“ESG”).

The constituent companies of the DJSI index are reviewed annually in September. This year, fiscal 2016, is the first time that NGK has been selected by DJSI Asia Pacific to be included in the index. The top ranking 146 companies (of which 68 were Japanese companies) were selected from among some 600 leading companies in six countries and 24 industries in the Asia- Pacific Ocean region.
