NGK INSULATORS, LTD. (“NGK”) and KUNG YIK COMPANY LIMITED (“Kung Yik”) is exhibiting advanced type of sodium-sulfur batteries (NAS Battery) NAS MODEL L24 at Energy Taiwan 2024 to be held from October 2 to 4, 2024 in Taipei. We are exhibiting an advanced type of sodium-sulfur batteries (NAS Battery) NAS MODEL L24 for the first time.

Outline of NGK's Exhibit
NAS battery
The NAS battery systems are the world's first commercialized battery systems capable of megawatt-level energy storage. They can be used for peak-shifting, stabilizing renewables, providing ancillary services and supplying emergency power during power outages.
The new product NAS MODEL L24 has been jointly developed by NGK and BASF and is characterized by a significantly lower degradation rate of less than 1 % per year thanks to a reduced corrosion in battery cells. Another technical achievement is an improved thermal management system in battery modules, which enables a longer continuous discharge.
The new technology elements have been incorporated into the field-proven battery design.
These new features allow projects to be implemented with fewer number of NAS battery containers installed over project running time, and additionally lead to a reduction in maintenance, which leads to saving approx. 20% on the investment in battery storage system compared to the conventional design.
